IV Sedation/General Anesthesia

We are trained in all aspects of anesthesia administration, and provide a wide range of anesthesia services beyond local anesthesia (commonly referred to as Novocain®) including: nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), IV sedation (conscious sedation), and general anesthesia. Following dental school, we completed training in a hospital-based surgical residency program which included extended time alongside medical anesthesia residents, where we were responsible for evaluating patients for anesthesia, delivery of the anesthetic and monitoring of post-anesthetic patients. This is one aspect of our training that makes us unique from other non-anesthesia medical and dental providers.

Our offices are equipped with emergency medications and airway management devices in the event of an emergency situation. We have been evaluated by the Colorado Dental Board for safety standards required to administer all levels of anesthesia. We are certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and are re-certified on a regular basis. Our surgical assistants have successfully completed the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) which requires continuing education in the field of dental anesthesia and a standardized written test.

If you desire anesthesia, we require that you have a consultation appointment prior to administration of any intravenous anesthesia so that we can evaluate your health and determine if you are a good candidate for outpatient, office-based anesthesia. We welcome any questions that you may have in regards to your anesthesia administration, and look forward to speaking with you about which type of anesthesia will best suit your needs.
